Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC)
TLC involves adding a special solvent to the urine sample which extracts
the tested substances. The TLC plate displays color spots on a film, which
are then compared to a standardized sample. Errors can result from a misinterpretation
of the sample and for this reason, TLC is not widely used. Abstinence or substitution
are the only ways to guarantee a negative result with TLC.
